Question: I had Rhinoplasty 3 days ago!.!. I have some questions!.!.!?
I had Rhinoplasty Friday morning, it is now Sunday afternoon!.!.
The first couple of hours after surgery, I could breathe in and out of my nose!.!. But then I couldn't!.!. What has made my nose so congested!? Could I have internal splints or could it just be swollen!?
How can you tell if you have internal splints!?
Also, I can't move my top lip, that means it is very hard to eat, drink, talk, smile etc!.!. Is this normal!?
And how can I get rid of dry blood without hurting my nose!? I try to wipe the dry blood with a moist cotton bud, but that doesn't seem to work very well!.!. My nose is itchy under the cast too, it is so frustrating having to ignore the itches!
Does anyone have any advice!?

I had a rhinoplasty done in Nov 2006!. I had no internal splints or packing, but my nose was still blocked for quite a few days!. You have to just bear it for a few days!. DO NOT fiddle with cue tips etcs to clean the inside at this stage, just use damp tissue or cotton wool to clean the nostrils, but be careful not to put any pressure on the note!. It will become unblocked with time!.
In terms of the top lip, mine was numb for some weeks, the feeling will gradually come back!.!. I think around 3 -4 weeks post op it should be normal again!.!. It's a progression, don't worry about it though, it's normal!.
The cast is the most annoying thing, I know, 2 weeks of stiffness and annoyance, and I had a rash - allergic reaction, so I had the rosiest cheeks and nose when it came off hehe!.!.!. but that faded!.
Its a bit of discomfort now, but it will be worth it in a weeks time when it comes off and you start to see the end result!.
Also warning, swelling will still be pretty extreme when the cast comes off, this subsides over time, don't expect to have the end result for approx 1-3 months post op!.!. and even then it will continue to refine over the next 18 months or so!.

you should have a substantial amount of packing up in there, so im surprised you could breathe at all!. if youve already gotten that removed, then you could very well be swollen!.
