Question: I barely punctured my finger on my dog's tooth and now my finger is swollen and stiff, why!?
I was rough housing with my 13 week old puppy!. You know like slapping her on each side of her face, alternating each hand to each side of her face and she would try and catch my hand!. She couldn't catch me so she would basically just leave her mouth open to have a better chance of catching me!. Her puppy teeth are very sharp apparently because after we were done playing i noticed i had to little cuts on the inside of my middle finger and pinky finger!. Later that night my fingers started to swell!. My pinky is barely swollen and the cut is sore, but my middle finger is very swollen and i can barely bend it it all!. I like rough playing with my two rottweillers!. so this isn't the first time i've been nicked by her teeth!. Normally on my forearms or backs of my hands!. Nothing like this has ever happened with her before!. What could be going on!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

I will assume your dog is up to date on all her shots!. If thats the case I would say you are developing a local cellulitis!. Usually caused by a staph infection the area starts with redness, warmth, swelling, and pain in the involved tissues!. Any skin wound or ulcer that has these signs may be cellulitis!. If this is the case it requires antibiotics!. Is it possible you just sprained the finger!?Www@Answer-Health@Com
Bacteria has entered the wound site!. Did you wash you hands after playing with the dog!?
Try soaking you hand in hot as you can bear water and add some tea tree oil or disinfectant!.
I should go to the docs and have a tetanus injection to be on the safe side if you haven't had one recently!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Did you clean it out after!? Dogs mouths can lead to infection rather quickly!. I suggest using peroxide and cleaning out!. If you want to go above and beyond, prepare an iodine bath and let your hand soak in it!. I got bit by a pitbull at Petsmart once and the doctor made me soak my hand in iodine, though that was not just a nick on my finger!.!.!.!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
Both dogs and cats carry germs in their mouths!. Your finger is probably infected and you should see a doctor ASAP!. These kinds of infections can be very very bad! This is not something you want to let go!. Www@Answer-Health@Com

Maybe your puppy broke the bone in your finger when he bit you!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
