Neonatal nursing is a special practice, this is working with new born's babies!. There are 3 levels to this career, Level 1 is caring for healthy babies, level2 is caring for premature or ill babies,level 3 is for babies in serious need for medical help!.
The entry level requirements for this are different for each location and hospitals most require a graduate of RN programs, school of nursing with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) or MSN (Masters of Science in Nursing)!. Most want a 3 year minimum of clinical experience in a hospital setting specifically certification as a Neonatal Resuscitation Provider or Neonatal Intensive Care Nursing or Neonatal Nurse Practitioner, they must also have a CNS (Clinical Nurse Specialist) or RN certification of the state they choose to work in!.
Need clinical competence and leadership skills the most important qualification's, ability to give medications, knowledge for patient care, cardiopulmonary resuscitation, math calculations, and how to use equipment proper!.
You must receive your RN degree first before you can become a Neonatal Nurse, Start out in a NICU (Neonatal Intensive Care Unit) or Special Care Nurse, or a level 1unit!. Most require this for at least 2 years!.This gets you experience then graduate to NN!. there will be more programs you will most likely have to complete as well!.Your grades and degree's you receive will get you there alot faster so good luck and hope you success!.
