No matter what!.!.!. do not ever put iced water or ice cubes on a burn!.!.!. you'll cause more nerve/tissue damage!. Just use cool water!. For the type you described, which even without descriptors sounds like a first degree, run it under cool water for a few minutes and then apply burn cream (not mayo, not butter, just regular burn cream)!. Let it air dry and wrap later if you need it!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
Your burn is first or second degree based on whether or not is blisters!. Take some Acetaminophen for the pain, apply an antibiotic like Neosporin if you are worried about infection!. You can use a dressing (but make sure it is a kind that won't stick)!. It should be better in a week or two depending on how bad it is!.
First-degree burns - redness , a white plaque and minor pain
Second degree burn - blistering
Third-degree burns - charring of the skin
Fourth-degree burns- damage muscle tissue!. Grafting is required if the burn does not prove to be fatal!.
Fifth-degree burns- blackened muscle!. Fat, nerves, veins, and arteries have been destroyed and the burn area is paralysed as a result!. Amputation is required if the burn does not prove to be fatal!.
Sixth-degree burns -blackened bone and damage marrow tissue!. These types of burns are always fatal!.
