You have left out most of the info needed for proper advice!. How old is your husband!? Is it both knees, as your question suggests, but only one knee was injured!? And he has strained the other by covering for the one originally injured!? Try Glucosamine/ Chondroitin with breakfast at one standard dose per 30 lbs of body weight!. They make doubles and triples!. If he weighs 180 lb, that's two triples or 3 doubles!. Also a Cox-1 inhibitor is a good idea, like Arthritis formula time-release Acetaminophen!. Alternatively Ibuproffen is a possibility, but most people report gastric and concentration problems with it!. (The prescription Cox-2 stuff hits harder but can cause death!.) He should stay off his feet as much as possible!. If the condition doesn't respond to time, rest, and GC, an Orthopedist is the next move!. Regards, Larry!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
Make an appointment with a physical therapist, as they will be the only true way to cure or at least seriously alleviate the discomfort!.
In the meantime, ice them for 20 minutes a day and take an anti-inflammatory pain reliever (ibuprofen)!.
Good luck,
