Question about neck vertebrae?!
Question: Question about neck vertebrae!?
I've always head a neck that is much to forward, and I have trouble doing "chin tuck" exercises and what not!. My question is, should the neck vertebrae all be aligned!? Whatever position my neck is in, I can always feel a vertebra "crunched" in between two others and I'm wondering if that is causing my difficulties in trying to achieve a straight neck!. If this is the case, could I chiropractor help this!? Could it be anything else!? What tests would show what if anything is wrong!? Thank you,
John
Also --- let me add that I fell on my head fairly seriously when I was 7 years old (10 years ago) and I never really got any serious treatment for it!. I wasn't able to move my neck side to side for a few months after the fall!. Possible relation!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

I'm in a physician assistant program at hofstra university and studying for my MCAts so maybe i can help you!. Its hard to say whether or not that your fall when you were younger has anything to do with your condition but i would suppose so!. Normally your cervical vertebrae has a convex curvature anteriorly (i!.e!. curved toward your front), this is its normal lordotic position!. So you really wouldn't want a straight or aligned cervical vertebrae becasue convex curvature is normal!. If this curvature is excessive straightened this is known as cervical kyphosis!. People with cervical kyphosis present with anteriorly protuding strighteded neck and in serious cases excessive curvature in the oppsoite direction of the cervical spine!. You can do some little test for this!. If you feel some slight pain or pinching when you hyperextend your neck (that is pivot your head as far back as possible) then you might need to visit a orthopedist, they deal with all injuries that affect the musculoskeletal system!. Make sure to ask for an X-ray, and if your really really concerned then a CT-scan to boot!. Good luck!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
