You could have hit a nerve, it got infected, or could be tetnus!. You need to goto the emergency room or urgent care as soon as possible to have it looked at! You might need to get a tetnus shot, especially if the nail was rusty!. If you have an infection you may need antibiotics!. Please hurry up and get that looked at!
