Could I have photophobia?!

Question: Could I have photophobia!?
Recently my eyes have become sensitive to bright light (sun, computer screens, some lights) and after some research I've come a conclusion that I could possibly have photophobia!.

When outside on a sunny day I often find myself squinting because of the bright sun and I've had to dim the screen on the computer I'm using to stop my eyes from hurting and sometimes I find a headache come on!.

I'm thinking of getting them tested just in case but what do you think!?

For the record, I've had plenty of sleep and no trouble getting up in mornings so I don't believe its tiredness!. I do spend some time sat in front of a laptop but when nothings going on I look away!.

ThanksWww@Answer-Health@Com

I wouldnt jump to conclusions and assume you have photophobia before you actually get checked out!. Go to an optician/your gp and explain your problems and mention that you came across photophobia on the internet and that your symptoms are similar to that of photophobia!.

Do you wear glasses at all!? I squint a lot outside in the sunshine and get headaches quite often when I'm using the computer, and when I had my eye test they said I needed glasses for when I'm concentrating on something and using the computer etc!.

I would really go and see a specialist, they will be able to help you more than me :) good luckWww@Answer-Health@Com

From what you are describing it certainly sounds as if this is exactly what you are going through!. I experienced extreme photophobia after my son was born to such an extreme that even certain shows on the television seemed visibly darker to me!. It turned out that not only was I photophobic, but also had been having ocular migraines!. Definitely get this checked out by an ophthalmologist or a neurologist b/c as I know it can be very disruptive to normal life!. Hope you find relief soon!.!.!.Good luck!Www@Answer-Health@Com

Photophobia is a symptom often associated with migrane headaches!. It means basically the light hurts your eyes!. It is painful and the person with photophobia must be in the dark!.

By your description, you seem to have very sensitive eyes!. I suggest getting a very good pair of sunglass (or 2 ) and putting them on when you are outdoors!.

Also, make an appointment with an opthamologist for a check-up!. Good Luck!!Www@Answer-Health@Com

From your description it sounds like you do have it!. I don't believe it is a real phobia, just a sensitivity to light!. This can be caused by the autonomic nervous system or certain drugs can sensitize a person to light!. It could also be a sign of a deficiency disease!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

you should go to an opticians, as your eyesight might be changing with computer usage!. this may affect the sensitivity, as it also causes you eyes to get dry, which may explain why sunlight also causes squinting!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

you might just need glassesWww@Answer-Health@Com
