Has anyone taken risparidol?!

Question: Has anyone taken risparidol!?
Answers:
oh yes!
It sure sucked!.
Took it for bipolar disorder ( as mood stabilizer)
Side effects were intolerably extremely AWFUL!
((became sexually non-existant/became instantly fat/mind had no thoughts in it))

got off that, tried Lamictal (and Lithium, together)
side effects; hallucinations!

go off that! started on Depakote
side effects!? not so bad, results(effectiveness) pretty good!.

recommendation for you is that there ARE always other drugs to chose from (I went to drugs!.com and researched myself to find the Depakote!(doctor was making lousy choices FOR me!)

Also can go to ask-a-patient!.com - type in a drug name and you'll get user comments from dozens of people who have been taking that drug!. Will tell you heads ups, and what's good, what's not!.
Good health to you, as best can! Stay at the helm for yourself!

Keep a daily log for yourself, if can, of what side effects happen, and how progress!.!.!.share it with doctor

This is useful because it takes a couple months to get to a full dose of a drug!. And then it may just end up not yet being the one you can tolerate, sohave to try another next!.

And you want to minimize how long this guinea pig procedure takes for you (and so how long till you get to where you're on the drug you can stay on, and your life stabilizes, )!.

So monitor your side effects!. Don't settle for not good enough!Www@Answer-Health@Com

Risparidol is used to treat psychotic conditions(severe mental disorder characterized by distorted thoughts, perceptions, and emotions), such as schizophrenia, but is like any drug given by a docotor to treat your specific needs, it doesn't mean you have to have schizophrenia to take this,as long as it helps!.
prolonged use can lead to tardive dyskenesia(involuntary movements of various parts of the body)!. common side effects are nausea, reduced perpseration, dry mouth, blurred vision, drowsiness, shaky hands, muscle stiffness, stooped posture!. serious side effects include rapid heartbeat, profuse sweating, seizures, difficulty breathing, neck stiffness, swelling of the tongue, difficulty swallowing, and a rare condition called neuroleptic malignent syndrome, characterized by stiffness, or spasms of muscles, high fever, and confusion or disorientation!. IF you have any of these side effects call your doctor immediately, or if needed seek medical help!.
In my personal experience with this medication, it did not help me with my mood swings, irritability, depression!. Instead it actually caused me to have more anxiety, and had a rare case of hysteria, (luaghing uncontrolably), then the doctor raised it, causing me to have akathesia(uncontrolable restlessness) i wanted to jump out of my skin! But everyone's body chemistry is very different, and some have benefitted greatly with risperadol!. Try it and find out, you never know it could be your magic pill, mine happens to be klonopin and that's all i take and very little of it as well,i've been amazed for about a year now!. But your doctor should always offer a medication sheet containing important information on the drug!. Always ask for one, they are bound by law to give you one!. I hope this was helpful, and best if luck in finding what will best help you, and remember medication does not fix all, there are alot of psychological issues we might not even fully be aware of that need to be noticed in order to get real help!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Why are you taking it!? You see medications are not always given for one reason!. All meds have side effects and sometimes the doctors give them for those very side effects!. Yes, it's a mild anti-psychotic but it has also been known to be used as a sleeping pill among other things!.
What do you want to know about it and are you having some untoward effects!? If so, you should call your doc and let him/her know!. You don't necessarily have to make an appointment, just call them and let them know if you're having problems!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

You mean Risperdal(risperidone)!? Yes, I know someone who took it!. It is classified as an atypical anti-psychotic!. It is used for a few different conditions!. I think it is most commonly used for schizophrenia!. There can also be some side effects!. I believe the most common one is drowsiness!. Also, whether or not children should take an atypical anti-psychotic (Risperdal,Seroquel, etc) has been widely debated in the medical community recently!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

My son took it for many years!. I am very familiar with this medication and the most common side effect of it - severe weight gain!. It is an anti-psychotic and is often given to children who are on the autism spectrum and exhibit aggression!.
It has been "replaced" by a newer drug called Abilify - it is the trend in psychiatry now to switch patients who are on this over to Abilify; which has fewer side effects including less weight gain!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

google it !Www@Answer-Health@Com

Yep!. It's a non-drug really!. You might as well take thin-air!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
