Try sexual activity!. This may relieve pelvic cramping and backache!.
Try using sanitary napkins instead of tampons!.
Get regular exercise!. You might find that it helps relieve pain!.
Over-the-counter medicine usually relieves menstrual pain!.

Nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), such as ibuprofen (Advil), help relieve menstrual cramps and pain!.
Start taking the recommended dose of pain reliever when discomfort begins or 1 day before your menstrual period starts!.
Take the medicine for as long as the symptoms would normally last if you did not take the medicine!.
If an NSAID does not relieve the pain, try acetaminophen, such as Tylenol or Panadol!.
Be sure to follow all labels and instructions!. If you are pregnant or trying to become pregnant, talk to your health professional before using any medicine!. Do not take aspirin if you are younger than 20 because of the risk of Reye's syndrome!.

I always take a hot bath to help, but you can't stay in the bath forever! Another few things to try!. One, try not to eat salt!. Another thing is do do some cardio exercise!. I know the last thing you want to think about it moving, but getting blood flowing will help relieve some cramping!. Lastly, eat bananas! They have potassium, which is the ultimate cramping protector!. You can buy stick on heating pads specially for these in drugstores!. They feel great!. Also, if your cramps are REALLY severe, try to avoid tampons if you can!. They can make it slightly worse!. You can also do some stomach stretches, like laying on your stomach and push your chest and back up so your legs are on the ground and your chest is facing up/forwards!. Good luck!Www@Answer-Health@Com

I have been going through hell with cramps since I was young!. I am in my 20's now so I have become good at fighting them off because as you know life must go on!. I used to miss school and shifts at work because the pain was too bad to even function!. No one quite understands either when you tell them you have cramps unless they have felt ones that cannot be soothed!.

Heating pads and hot baths alone do not work usually!.!.!. i have found that using them all do though!. If you have time and do not have to go to school etc !.!.!.Run a bath as hot as you can stand and while its filling take some midol or pamprin extra strength I think midol is the best!. Take 2 with a big big glass of water finish even if you are not thirsty water helps so much!. Get into the bath and soak for 10 to 15!. When your done the pills will have kicked in some and you will be able to curl up on the couch for an hour or so !.!.!. relaxing is the key to bad bad cramps since the cramps itself is a muscle spasm !.!.!.
Follow up with some advil or life band ibuprofen in a couple hours!. Drink lots of water during this time!.

Another one that works for the more ambitious type though I can tell you for sure it works and much quicker!. WORK OUT!! Hope on the tred mill or head out for a jog!. It will be uncomfortable at first but within a few mins your body will naturally banish the cramps completely! Again water water water!
