Would your hearing ever improve if it was damaged by the sound of an explosion?!

Question: Would your hearing ever improve if it was damaged by the sound of an explosion!?
My ggrandfather was pensioned out of the navy in about 1900 after having his hearing damaged by being to close too some sort of exploding shell that was being tested!. I assume it burst his ear drums!.
Would have he been completely deaf as a result of that and is it likely that his hearing could have improved as time passed!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

Answers:
I think that once the drum is damaged the hearing will never completely come back!.

I had repetitive ear infections as a child in my right ear, which made my ear drum disintegrate!.

I have had an operation to repair it, just to stop water getting into my brain though!. They said that my hearing would never come back totally!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

the medical term for that is, tinnitus, = industrial deafness
it causes a continual ringing in the ears, and disturbs the ability to hear properly, there is no cure, though Cochlear implant, may help, if you are like most ppl of today's generation who listen to loud music, you are in danger of being affected, take my word for that, i suffer from tinnitus due to operating a large track laying vehicle in my younger days and didn't wear ear protectionWww@Answer-Health@Com

No your hearing will never be the same!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
