i crack my knuckles constantly! it hurts not to crack them! is there any way i can stop!?!?!? help! :/

Yes, it is a bad habit!.

It hurts because your joints have gotten used to it!. When you crack your knuckles, you are acutally popping your joints into or out of their normal position!.

every week set a goal, "i'm only going to crack my knuckles twice a day this week"!. the next week have it down to once a day, then just try to stop for as long as you can, if you over-do your goal by not cracking them at all for a week it'll be easy to just crack them every once in a while!. i think %50 of people crack them at one point or anotherWww@Answer-Health@Com

You could try a doctor! They can help sometimes with stuff like this!. They probably give the best advice, since they help people with issues like this!. Or you could try the taping thing like that first girl suggested!. It worked for me! Or, next time you're going to crack your knuckles, think about it and tell yourself not to do it!.!.!.think of all the negative things like in the long run, you could get arthritis in your hands and not be able to move them!Www@Answer-Health@Com

Think about the fact that if you bash/smack your hand, due to the fact that you pop air and erode at the bone everytime you crack them, your hand will hurt 20 times more then if you don't!.

well this might sound weird but crack them little by little each day and try doing things not to think about it!.!. lol so try to crack them less each day and you will just keep cracking them less yea and i had that problem with cracking my neck but that worked for me and i rarely crack my neck now or maybe just lightly crack them if that make sense!.!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Well, why do you want to stop!? You say it feels good and that they hurt if you don't, so just keep doing it!. Of course there are some slight health risks from cracking knuckles, but most are just discomfort in old age!. If you really wanna quit then just STOP! and when they get to hurting rub a SMALL amount of Bengay on them, and i do mean a SMALL amount because that stuff will set you on fire!

It can be bad if you do it to much!
You could try seeing how long you can go without cracking them, then if you cant last more than 5 minutes than sorry I dont know what to do other than see the doctor!.
After a while if you dont do anything it could get worse!.

What i would do is have your closest friend tell you and remind you not to crack your knuckles and i bet your habit will go away soon!. Or you could tape your hands together but i think that's too dramatic lol!. I'd go with the first part!. Good Luck! ~kaitlyn~Www@Answer-Health@Com

Find something else to remove the tension, like tap your foot or rattle your fingers!. Take the impulsive need to crack your knuckles and channel it into some less-harmful activity!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Tape your hands!.!.!.it sounds weird, but works fine ;) try masking tape!.!.!.and write "do not touch" on them!. It'll make you laugh, and you'll forget about wanting to crack them!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Could possibly lead to arthritis but thats not proven!. Massage your hands daily or maybe even try a hypnotist or even acupuncture in your hands!.!.!.!.see if that helps!.!.!.!.!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
