I have quit smoking!. Cold turkey!.
Not meds or patches or anything!.
It has been about 12 weeks now since I've had a smoke!.
For some reason lately though, I have been craving one BAD!.
The urges are very strong!.
If you've tried Chantix can you tell me if it is the type of medication that you can take off and on!?
Like, could I just get a weeks supply and expect it to help!?
Would it help to take a pill when I'm craving or is it something that you have to continue!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

The directions say to start taking it a week before your chosen quit date, then to continue taking it for up to 11 more weeks after you quit!. It only comes in a months supply!. It is expensive - for the first 3 months of taking it my insurance did not cover it, then they changed and it became a covered med!.
I needed to take it for much longer than recommended!. I took Chantix for 6 months last year - three months before I finally quit, then continued for three more months!. I finally quit the Chantix because I had some pretty significant side effects from it!.
I don't believe it is a type of med that you can stop and start - you have to build it up in your system!. I don't think taking a pill when you are craving a cigarette would work, but that's jmo!.

I have been quit for 10 months now and still have cravings!. When I do, I think of something else, or statr knitting (a hobby I started when I was trying to quit) and this has been successful for me!.

Chantix is not a on again off again RX!. And it is quite expensive!. I do not believe that you could get a weeks supply only, and it takes a few weeks to enter the system!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
