Is it safe to gauge your ears yourself?!

Question: Is it safe to gauge your ears yourself!?
i dont really know if your supposed to go to a piercing place to get it done!. but i already did mine and i skipped 18s and 16s and went straight to 14 and it kinda hurts!. how long should i wait for it to heal before i go to the doctor and see if its infected!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Answers:
First off you should never skip sizes!. Secondly you should be able to tell if it is infected yourself!. If it is puss and is swollen and still hurts after like a week or two, then yes it is infected!. No you don't have to go to a piercing place every time you want to size up!. You just need to buy tappers!. You should be fine!. I have gone from a 12 all the to 7/16, which is one size bigger then 00!. Also a trick I use to make sure that my next sizing up will go over fine is I full one my earrings all the time!. that way the are a little bigger come to to size up!. In fact on my last size up I was already at 7/16 when I got the tappers, because I had pulled on them soo much!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

yes, but not to the size you want them all at once!. you'll rip your ear lobe!. you have to gauge them gradually!. there are gauges specifically for gradually gauging your ears!. they look like little cones!. you get it in as deep as it will go, and keep it in of course, everyday pushing it in a bit deeper!. thats how i did mine, hope i helped!.

ummm, i dont think the second part of this question was there when i originally answered!? but i wouldnt worry about going to the doctor unless its got juices coming out or something!. actually i myself wouldnt even go then, i'd just take them out for a few days then start over!. you just kind of have to deal with the pain!. going from an 18 to a 14 is not that big of a jump!. a 14 is still pretty small!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

It's safe to gauge your own ear is you do it slowly and DON'T skip gauge sizes!.

If it's really bugging you see a doctor!. He'll be able to tell you if it's infected (signs of infection will include pain when you touch it, swelling in the area, redness, etc!.)!. If it is infected you'll be prescribed an antibiotic most likely!.

And next time, take things slower and don't skip sizes!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

well, you should never jump to a size that big at first!. You can do it yourself though!. What you should do is take it out and let it heal, then you should go to hot topic or spencers or a store that sells piercing things and get these little horn lookings things and like each week push it further and further in your ear untill you get to the point you want it, but yeah you could damage anything my gauging it too fast!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I hope it's safe because I'm doing my own!. Mine hurts too each time I go down a size it usually lasts for a week and then just as it gets better I do it again!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

UM!.!.!.!.!.I wouldn't of done it myself!. WELL!.!.!.!.I wouldn't have done it AT ALL! But the symptoms for an infected ear are pretty much redness, pain(happened 2 me)-yea I would go see a DOC anywaysWww@Answer-Health@Com
