Question: (doc's and nurses mostly please!) is my thumb fractured!?!?!?!?
so today i slammed the car door on my thumb and it swelled up, bled, and bruised immediately!. i iced it for two hours and it still was swollen!.!.!.!. it has been at least 6 hours since it happened and it is still swollen!. it hurts bad even wen i dont move it and it hurts wen i do move it!.!.!.!.i can barley move it cuz of the swelling and i think its fractured!.!.!. but my mom wants to wait a few days before going to the doc!.!.!.!.!. what should i do!.!.!. is it broken or fractured!?!?!?!?!?!? please help me!

There is no way to tell if the thumb is fractured or just badly mashed without an x-ray!. It can go either way, actually!. The swelling would be no surprise at all, and it doesn't tilt the case in either direction!. I'd really recommend you go to the ER to have it checked out!. It may be fractured, and can benefit from a splint, it may also need something more involved to fix it!. Or it may just be mashed badly- I'm sorry but there's just no way to know!. Just ask your mom again if you can go have it looked at!. Meantime, it will thump less if you elevate that hand to head level at least!. And keep the ice on it for the swelling!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
it's possible that it's broken!.!.!.but it's OK to wait a couple days to see if the swelling goes down!. you're unable to move it and use it right now due to the swelling, so it can be hard to tell if it is actually broken!. keep icing it and if you can tape it to your hand (to immobilize it) or getting caught on anything, that should help until you can get to the doc for an x-rayWww@Answer-Health@Com
