The concept originated in Chicago in 1930, a while after the introduction of the rear view mirror on a car!.
Ray Harmon put a rear view mirror on his Harmon Wasp in 1909, at a time when no manufacturer was putting rear view mirrors on their cars!. Naturally, it would be a while before manufacturers added this innovation to their produced vehicles!. When most cars had the mirrors, the idea soon followed that reversed writing would process better in a driver's mind!.
It is considered useful because even though the driver of the car in front of the emergency vehicle doesn't process that fact that he's looking at a reversed image in the mirror, can easily and quickly read the word, and react accordingly!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
