What does a pinched nerve in the back mean to you?!
Question: Nerves really canot be anatomically pinched. It is not a good term. But gross herniations of the discs can put pressure on nerves and cause tingling and motor loss. Most of the time when both doctors and patiens call a nerve pinches they are mistaken. Sometimes the spinal joints can become inflammed or degenerated and pain may refer to other places and make it seem as if a nerve is "pinched". Herniated discs and bone spures in the hole where the nerve comes out may produce true nerve symptoms but the nerv is not pinched.

go with PT first, see if that would help and if not go for surgery if you and your doctor feel the need for that
