As someone previously pointed out, Carpal Tunnel is a syndrome that is caused by repetitive motion. Have you been diagnosed with it before? Your mention of numbness concerns me a bit. If the numbness does not go away in a few days, you may want to see your doctor. Carpal Tunnel deals with tendons, not nerves. Numbness tends to lean towards nerves. They are finicky little buggers, I had surgery on the ulnar nerve (funny bone) in the elbow back in September. So they may need to be looked into if the numbness doesn't go away soon.

If not, you probably overworked your hand and elbow. If that is the case, the best care is RICE= Rest, Ice, Compression, and Elevation.

Please note that ice should be limited to no more than 20 minutes at a time to prevent frostbite. Also anti-inflammatory medications can be used like Aleve, Aspirin, Ibuprofen, and other over the counter NSAIDs.

I have included a link below that goes into more detail. You can also find braces and ace bandages at local drugstores and I have found that Walmart is usually the cheapest. (If you have one nearby)

I hope you feel better soon. If you have been diagnosed with Carpal Tunnel Syndrome the treatment is pretty much the same although there are special braces available for it.

Take care and I hope you feel better soon.

Exercise the arm and hand to work the stiffness out. Ibuprofen or naproxyn sodium (Alleve or Naprosyn) can also be helpful.

I'm a big fan of Aleve, because one dose lasts for 12 hours. You might also try icing it. That helps me quite a bit.

Instead of using ice, you can try an unopened bag of frozen peas. They conform to your wrist much more easily and aren't too cold that they will hurt your skin.

Sounds more like tendinitis to me. I have both. I swear ice works miracles on the pain, it really does.

Usually carpel tunnel comes from long term usage (a computer analyst?). What you are feeling is the strain you put on your joints (shoulder, elbow, wrist). These joints are sore and the ligaments were over worked more than usual. The pain does feel bad, a anti-inflammatory medication to bring the swelling down and relieve the pain. Ask your pharmacist for an over-the-counter medication for your problem. You might want to keep that arm warm, wrapping your wrist and elbow with gauze does help. good luck
