i'm assuming you want it to close normal without scarring. to do this twice a day, once in the morning and once in the evening before bed clean the front and back of the hole with rubbing alcohol. let dry and then rub neosporin on the back and front of the hole. try not to sleep on that side of your head or hold the phone to that ear for a few days. once the actual sore is healed if there is some scar tissue remaining, use tea tree oil rubbed on it to heal the scarring and discoloration.

Was it already fully healed up when you took out the earring?
If it was, and then it got infected, it might or might not close up.
If it was less than six months since you got it pierced, then it will probably close up. And you can put rubbing alcohol on the infection.

Try using a 70% isopropyl alcohol solution on the infected area three times a day until the infection goes away. All piercings heal in time as long as you keep the area clean and dry.

I would put the piercing back in if it has not closed, and then talk to your piercer or doctor. If it truly is infected, then it does need some place to drain, via the hole from piercing. I would not use any sort of alcohol, as it dries and can further irritate the peircing. Try a saline solution using sea salt (not table), and warm water. Your doctor may put you on antibiotics to help it, because if it is an infection, it may spread.
