How many hours of sleep do 18 year olds need?!

Question: Hi, I've been struggling to find the right answer. I have been researching and I found one website where UK scientists found that 7 hours of sleep is the best and sleeping under or over that will make you tired etc. However, I found some other websites where doctores say it all depends on the person, age, genetic stuff etc. So I tried sleeping for 7 hours trying to follow up with the UK study. However, I would find myself hard to wake up only sleeping for 7 hours BUT i'm not tired once i start moving. Today, i slept 9 hours. I set the alarm clock to 5 bcuz i slept at 10 yesterday but i went back to sleep for 2 more hours and i still felt drowsy and cranky. I couldn't even think. So i was wondering if i am tired bcuz i had 2 more hours of sleep or do i just need more? Please don't state your opinions I need actual facts. State the website or wherever you found the facts from so i can verify it myself.

To find out how much sleep you need, do this experiment when you are not tired. Go to bed at the same time each night, say at 10 pm. Take note of what time you naturally wake up without the help of an alarm clock. Do this for a few nights and you'll establish the amount of sleep you need. From what you've said, it sounds like you need a little more than 7 hours. 9 will probably be too much.

Verify it by doing the experiement.

7 to 8

9-10 hours! 60 minutes just did a really fascinating show on sleep. You should watch it. It is in the video section and called the Science of Sleep.

8-9 hours

7 hours but try to keep to the same times of going to bed and getting up

At least 8 hours of sleep to rest your minds .

The doctors says an adult person needs 8 hours of sleep daily. That's what I had been doing since my adolescent years. If you don't believe, ask your doctor who knows best.

You need at least 8 hours of sleep daily. The reason why you feel drowsy when you woke up is because you are sleeping too much. It makes your brain slow down as in not being able to be as active as usual and will also make you feel tired, thus not being able to continue your daily work. I hope this helps !
