What can i do for a mustle relaxer?!

Question: My right leg mustle tightens up after i run in track, usually early in it. Ive tried everything from streching before running to taking it slow.

- My leg mustle just seems to buckle up and tighten, like a rope being twisted to get the water out, and just gets worse the whole day, getting as bad as not being able to walk for about 2 hours.
- Does anyone have any ideas on how to help this, (creams, ext.) or is it something that il need to see a doctor for so it doesnt effect me in the future since i havent completely went through puberty.
- Oh, im 13 years old if that helps any, if at all.

- Please help!!!!!!

The most common cause of cramping is a build up of toxins (eg carbon dioxide and other bi products of metabolism), so warming up and stretching the muscles is very important.
You might try increasing the amount of water that you are drinking, since this helps flush out toxins via the kidneys.
If this doesn't help, see if there is someone at school who can check out your running technique, since you may be putting more pressure through this one leg than the other and the mechanics of your running may need to be adjusted.
There are creams that you can buy from pharmacies without prescription, that also increase the blood flow to the muscle in question.
If you continue to have problems, see a doctor who specialises in sports related problems.
Good luck

You could try acupressure. Find the sorest spot and apply moist heat. Take a towel and run hot water on it, twist the towel to ring out the water. Now apply the hot towel to the leg muscle a few times, and then if you can, or have someone else do it for you, place your thumb over the sore spot, may even feel a knot, and apply pressure until it starts to quiver. Let go and take your fingers and massage the area to get blood to flow to it. Then rub some Aspartame to the area along the muscle, provided you are not allergic to aspirin, and that should really feel good. There is a gel that is for muscle soreness that athletes sometime use, it's called Mineral Ice, cool going on then it begins to heat when absorbed. You might in the future wrap that muscle, didn't say where on your leg it hurts, with an ace bandage, or buy yourself a stretchable brace that you just pull up onto your leg. I think that moist heat and ice packs will relieve the pain, twenty minutes on, twenty off, until the muscle eases and gets back to normal. Stretching the leg muscle does help. Good luck to you young man.
