How do I stop a second degree burn from scaring?!

Question: I have a very recent burn from an iron on my stomach. The blister that formed popped nearly immediately as I moved and now the area is open and sore. I really do not want this to scar does any one have any ideas on how I can stop it scaring at this stage? I have heard about aloe vera but sadly I am allergic to this. I have not been to the doctors but would like to avoid this. Thank you in advance.

Don't pick the scab ( which of course you would not do on purpose), and try not to have anything rough rub against it so that it would come off before its ready. I would advise keeping it as moist as possible, possibly with a triple antibiotic cream, and then with a bandaid large enough to cover the entire burn. As soon as it's healed, buy some Mederma.. it helps the skin not form scar tissue and fades the redness of a scar. Above all.. if you live in a climate for the next few months that you would be exposed to the sun on your stomach, keep it covered. Sun will burn the scar skin that is forming and will definitely mark the skin much darker there there. So....
1. Keep it clean, covered and moist
2. Mederma daily or more til scar is not visible
3. Don't expose it to sun for quite some time

Good luck!

polysporin is really good use the cream version. You may have some pimentation but will go away within 3 months.

do not let it scab.. if it scabbed already, chances are it will scar.. use a ointment on it 3 times aday..
