Ligaments and the cure?!

Question: Is there a quick remedy to get the ligaments across the top of your foot better. I had a fall about a month ago and cannot even get the swelling down yet. I had an x-ray so nothing is broken, but I have a lot of pain with it.

You need to see a physio. They'll be able to give you ultrasound which will promote healing. In the meantime you should apply an ice pack, or bag of frozen peas in a cloth, for 15 minutes at a time AND NO LONGER several times a day. You can massage in some arnica cream afterwards, working towards your heart, which will help the swelling be reabsorbed.
Ligaments can take a long time to heal, and if they have been overstretched they may never return to their former selves. I had to have a graft from my hamstring to my anterior cruciate because mine didn't recover from an injury.
So make sure you get yours checked out properly - that means a physio, not a doctor.
Good luck.

Buy the homeopathic remedy Ruta 30c.
Take 1 tablet twice a day for 5 days.
Also buy some Arnica gel or cream and apply it to the painful area.

In addition to what Bohemian has said, I'd definitely start regularly taking some kind of anti-inflamatory. I'd also strongly suggest that you try to stay off it (icing is good, for now) as much as possible for the next several weeks. elevating the foot slightly will also help with some of the swelling due to blood flow.

Finally, when the swelling starts to go down, rotating Ice and heat can often help to build some tensile flexibility in the tendon.

You DO NOT want to try to rehabilitate a ligimant injury too soon. Unlike a muscle that is in the healing process, over stretching or using the ligament can cause significant damage.

I once tore seven ligaments in my back. Took me about 4 months before I could even begin working with them and another 2 months after that before I could actually start re-strengthing the muscles around it.

This is a "marathon" not a "sprint". No quick remedies here mate. If you're younger, recovery will come quicker but don't try and hurry it up; please.
