Spending time in the hospital?!

Question: i recently had a concussion and spent overnight in the hospital. i just hit my head during dance, it wasnt anything major but had a huge affect on me.

i wanna hear other stories. how did you end up in the hospital? how long did they keep you? how did you do it? dide they keep you in emergency or give you a room? im looking for stories about people who have actually hurt themselves, not people who were in for a surgery. thanks :)

Well, I had a very bad summer about 2 years ago. I went bowling with my summer camp and it was my turn to go. I did not have any bowling shoes because they did not give us any, I really don't know why they didn't. I was bowling with my right hand, slipped, flew a few feet down the alley, did like a 180 and the 18 pound ball landed on my thumb. The nail fell off, it was bleeding like crazy, yada yada yada. I went to the doc and they said that it was severe and had to go to the hospital. They took be in, gave me 3 numbing shots, took off the dead nail, cleaned it up, gave me stitches, and put the dead nail back on. MISTAKE!!!! I went on a trip with my mom about a week later to Ukraine. I had to have my gauze changed everyday by my mom, and one day she noticed that there was like a bump on my finger. I refused to go get it checked out until one day, still in Ukraine, she forced me to go. Turns out that I had an infection. I had to have like 6 shots, 1 in my butt, and then I had to be put to sleep. Everyday of my "wonderful" vacation, I had to go get my bandages changed in the hospital. What joy! I'm fine now, except my finger is like as thin as paper. No, fine, as thin as 30 papers. ;)

I was 17 yrs old and hiking with some friends. I came to the edge of a cliff and decided to jump to the other side. I made it but slipped and fell backward off the cliff. I woke up in a cave 25 feet below the cliff.

Bones in my head were broken. My hand was bleeding a lot. I had a HUGE headache! I passed out again and again.

Eventually, the paramedics were able to get to the park and find the cave after some people ran for help and found a park ranger. The paramedics put me on a board, carried me to an ambulance and got me to a hospital. I passed out from pain.

I woke up to a huge pain in my hand. The emergency room doc was sewing stitches in my hand with no pain meds. Ouch! I hit him with my other hand and demanded numbing shots for my hand but they held me down and put the stitches in anyway with no pain meds.

I woke up on and off for 3 more days until I awoke in a hospital in my home town. I don't even remember them taking me there by ambulance. It was a 3 hour drive. I had a major concussion and broken facial bones they wired back together.

I spent about 2 weeks in the hospital in and out of consciousness. I missed the first month of my senior year of high school! I wasn't allowed to play my senior sports year.

I have never tried jumping across a cliff again.

it was last summer.
i was at a friend's pool party, and i slipped and hitmy head on the edge of the pool. it didn't knock me out right then, but i immediately got dizzy. everyone helped me lay down, and then i passed out while laying down. they called an ambulance, and then i woke up and kept losing consciousness every so often. i got to the hospital, and they took a scan of my head. i had a concussion, a minor one. it wasn't that bad, but every so often i get pericing headaches. i was in the hospital overnight. they never moved me from the emregency section. i was strapped on a backboard thing the entire time.
hope you feel better! :)

Went to the ER twice. not for very long though. I was five the first time. Jumped on the top bed of a bunk bed and hit my head on the head bored twice. My mom rushed me in and i had to get 4-5 staples in my head. Taking them out hurt.

the second time was when i was seven. We had those mini flags on 6 in mini wooden poles. It was just after the 4th of July. I never cleaned my room that summer. I was crawling around looking for one of the flags. I heard a snap and found it. Half was in my leg, in the right calf. My dad took me into ER. THe y didn't really numb it. they set me on a table and told me not to look up. they started to surgically remove the pole when i was awake and felt everything. Through tears of pain, I looked up. I saw a three foot needle (Not kidding. This is why i hate needles and shots.) going through my leg just above the knee. THey pused my head down. After a good hour and a half, they were done. they wrapped my leg, no stitches, no staples, and gave me a coupon for some free meal at BK for being a 'good little girl'. I thought they were stupid. I was crying and screaming the whole time. They told me not to walk for a couple of days and sent me home. Was careful about things ever since, wel, kind of. ; )

My cousin fell from a 50 ft cliff and landed on his head. He was in a coma for a few weeks, but survived. : )
