Why do my ears sometimes pop when I'm talking?!
Question: The ears and your airway are connected. Your ears are popping because they are responding to pressure changes as you speak. I can pop my ears by yawning in the right way--very useful if changes in altitude are causing discomfort.
It sounds normal. One of the physical tests I've had to do to prove fit was to take a breath, plug my nose, and "pressurize" to prove that I could clear my ears in case water got into them.

Edit: I just saw that this was posted under pain. If you are experiencing ear pain you definitely should get your ears looked at by a doctor.
