Knee surgery or not...?!

Question: I went the the orthopedist on Tuesday for a followup on my knee, which i had injured back in June playing beach volleyball(minor tear in MCL). During this visit he mentioned the possibility of scoping my knee to see if the MRI(both of them) had missed any tears to my meniscus or other ligaments, since i am still eperiencing moderate to severe pain with cutting and twisting and squating, also with landing my jumps with cheerleading. However, the doc said that since the MRIs werent showing any additional damage that surgery wasnt highly recommended(at this time)since i was showing healing progress albieght slow. He left the decision up to me(for now) and we decided to continue with the PT and cortizone injections for now.
I want to try and wait until May (when competition season is over).

My question is will i end up causing more harm then good by continuing with the therapy and injections, and putting off surgery for that long?

How long should i play "wait and see"?

make a list of all of your questions and return to the ortho doc for answers. do not make any decisions till then.
