I had a Cat Scan two months ago, does that mean I can't donate blood?!
Question: My friend's boyfriend was horribly injured in a car accident and I want to donate blood in his name, but I had a Cat Scan two months ago. They injected me with Iodine for the scan and I don't know if I am able to. I am very healthy and meet all of the other requirements.

Within hours of the injection, the contrast used in CT scanning is filtered out of your blood, by your kidneys, and it leaves your body completely when you urinate. There should be no problem, and I encourage you to donate.
By the way, when you go to donate, you can ask the staff any questions or bring up any concerns.
Best thing is to ask the organization itself or try calling Red Cross to see your eligibility.
