Sick and tired of being sick...?

I have only been sick since Sunday, but it came on really fast. I have lost my voice for the most part. I went to the Dr. and he prescribed me some antibiotics. I am having health insurance issues right now. The prescription costs more than I want to pay out of pocket... $60 for generic. Yeah, I am cheap. Are there any herbal remedies to relive my sore throat and get my voice back. I'm feeling just fine other than my throat. I am nursing my baby still. I usually don't ask for medical advice online, but I am willing to take legitimate suggestions. i know I should really just fork out the 60 bucks, but I usually let a cold or flu run it's course without antibiotics. I think that is why I am rarely sick.

Yes antibiotics cause your whole immune system to become weaker than it was before you were sick. Your immune system is fighting off some germ, virus, or worm right now.

"Oil Pulling"
If you have raw organic sesame oil, you can do a thing called "Oil Pulling" every morning and it really helps with the sore throat.

"Beta Glucan" (derived from bakers yeast cell wall
This stuff is very subtle but amazing. It just basically boosts your immune system. I have a bottle of it for just 11.39. And it lasts a long time because you don't need so much. It is great for allergies too.

HOT tea"
Herbal teas, are very nice. They work best when they are very warm, (hot). Bengal spice is a good one from the box.
Peppermint, Ginger, or a mixture of Ginger, Cinnamon, Cardamon, Black pepper, and Cloves, with a little honey, is very nice. But even if you just drank hot water all day, it would be extremely helpful.

Tumeric
Tumeric powder or fresh root, is highly antiseptic and healing. You can put it in capsules or just put it in a cup of water and drink it. (a table spoon is good) If you have to drink milk it should be very warm with added tumeric to keep it from being to mucous forming. Tumeric is so gentle and effective too. I just take it mixed with water or blend the raw root up in the blender, strain, and mix with lemon and honey and water. But be careful, it stains!

Gargling for long time with salt water is good.

Foods to avoid are
yogurt, kefir, sweets, white flour, meat, eggs, ice cream, chocolate, peanut butter, (the kind with more than two ingredients namely salt and peanuts). Cold cereal, cold milk.

Beneficial foods are steamed veggies like brocoli, beets, carrots.
Raw garlic, raw onions, green chilies, corriander greens (Chinese parsley), celery, (you can make these into a salsa (with tomatoes) with your blender)..These are great for milk production too.
Hot veggie soups.

Oh and I have taken all of these things and am also nursing.
