I have been having trouble finding a healthy way to relax enough to be able to s!

Question:

I have been having trouble finding a healthy way to relax enough to be able to sleep?

I recently made the choice to quit taking the klonpin that was prescribed to me unless it was absolutely necessary. I've got a little over a month before college starts back, and I need to find a way to be able to shut my mind down in order to sleep. Not to make me drowsy, because even when I'm drowsy my mind wants to keep running. I need away to clear my mind or at least slow it down so I can relax and fall asleep fairly easily. I love listening to music, but I can't keep from singing along. Alot of instruments have sounds that agitate me, such as the saxophone. Guitars and drums I really like, but don't know where I could find an instrumental album with just those two instruments. Acoustic guitar i enjoy as well. I have one of those noise machines, and it does 6 different sounds but doesnt help much. I never run out of things to think about, or so it seems. Would it help to imagine just a general feeling of being relaxed and peaceful, instead of having actual thoughts?

The klonpin was as needed

I also should mention that I have been tested and have a hearing range that is below normal, so if i did use music it would have to be something that could stay within a limited range of pitches.

Also, I can only sleep during the early hours of the morning and right around sunset. I find it difficult to sleep in darkness. I'm not in fear of anything, but just for some reason i am able to sleep better in daylight

I do alot of work around the house during the day, right now because I live with my mom and she's got an 8-5 job. I am moving out this month into a place where I'll be living alone so I'll be doing alot of work there too......so once again, being drowsy or worn out doesnt slow down my mind.....the only thing that does is an emotionally taxing day.....and dont suggest i should cry more often because i dont enjoy pain. I know it cant be avoided on this earth, but that's not the answer. I did say "healthy way"

I can relax listening to "Until The End Of Time" by Justin Timberlake, however, as stated, i have to have it up loud because i dont hear well, and if i left i low i'd be straining to hear the words. this wont be too much of a problem once i move in to my new place by myself later this month, so i hope that will be an option at that time. Until then, i have to find something else

Just so everyone's aware, I do appreciate all advice, but I am under 21 still and cannot legally drink any amount of alcohol

Answers:

If you drink anything with caffene, stop drinking it 8 hrs before bedtime, wear yourself out during the day and make your bedroom for sex and sleep only. If your bedroom is constantly busy, for instance, it has books everywhere and computers, or if you use your room as a study hall, you will find that your mind drifts to other places than sleep. Oh, make sure to stop eating 2 hrs before bedtime because if you have a full stomach going to bed, your body will be using lots of energy to digest it and it could give you a restless sleep. Try relaxation techniques before bed such as meditation or yoga, but something light though, you don't want to get your motor revving before sleeping. Counting sheep never worked for me, but other visual scenes that are peaceful could help. Light music that is peaceful, or have a journal at the bedside where you can write all your worries down to get them out of your head. I worry and sometimes that keeps me from going to sleep. Also, try getting a new mattress or pillows, even something that simple could be the trick.
