What type of doctor do I need to go to?!
Question:
What type of doctor do I need to go to?
my wrist hurts a lots I can't flex it down , it hurts when I type etc... from what I research online it can be Carpal Tunnel Syndrome or Tendonitis, what type of doctor do I need to go to?
thank you
Answers:
Carpal Tunnel is caused by a collapse of a 'tube' of sorts in the wrist. Repetitive motions such as typing with improper positioning can cause it.
Usually, there is pain and tingling in the thumb, index, and middle fingers.
Repositioning the hand to about 23 degrees (putting it palm-down on a table and raising it just a bit) may help with the pain.
Ice works well for inflammation (but, isn't often used by therapists in treatment of people who have a lack of sensation to an area).
You should probably be seeing an orthopedic surgeon. He/She will be most adept at evaluating your condition, and if the need arises, treating it with surgical intervention (although, sometimes splinting is enough).
Good Luck!
