Does we need to go to the ER for this?

He says he attempted to jump over a large tree branch on the ground, and instead scraped and fell onto it or something like that. We cleaned it with alcohol and put a gauze on. We are going to try to see the doctor tomorrow. Thank you!

I can't tell from the pictures how deep the wound is. From what I can tsee, most of the injury looks fairly superficial - like a big scrape. However, the middle of the injury looks like it could be deeper, and at the very least should be checked out to make sure there is no debris in the wound that could cause infection. It is possible it will require a stitch or two, or butterfly bandages. A tetanus shot and antibiotics need to be considered as well.
