Is hayfever genetic ;o?!
Question: Is hayfever genetic ;o?
Answers:
Genes do play a factor but that doesn't mean you will have allergies if your mom, dad, or siblings do. Hay fever is an exaggerated allergic response and caused by certain cells in your body to release histamine in response to a substance called an antigen. These cells have receptors on them that can have an antigen attach to them like a lock and key. The exact shape of the receptors is determined by their protein sequence which is determined by your DNA sequence. And since not everyone has identical genes (except identical twins of course) this is why some people have allergies and some don't. That is the extent that genes play in whether or not you will be getting hay fever in your lifetime.
