Why is my eyelid swollen?!

Question: Why is my eyelid swollen?
Last night the left side of my top left eyelid hurt really bad. It has happened before but only when I rub my eye to hard, this time I didn't. I woke and it hurt a lot and it is slightly swollen. I put ice on it which didn't help much. The pain went down later in the day, but it still swollen and feels weird(probably because it is swollen. It hasn't really affected my vision. I don't know what I could do. I will probably go to the doctor if doesn't go away by tomorrow.

This has happened to me before and I come from a family of eye "specialist"... LOL So here is what you do... most important it will take time... ain't that a bugger! Make sure you keep it clean and NO MAKEUP till it is better!!! 5 times a day (or as many as you have time for) get a wash rag as HOT as you can stand and massage it over your eye. When it is better and you return to wearing makeup make sure you don't use the same stuff that has touched your eye as it can have bacteria in it. Keep moisture where it is cracked. aquaphore or something greasy like that. If it hasn't healed in 2 weeks I would break down and go to an optometrist. They can often give you samples of the antibiotic eye drops that you will need.

Hi, by the way it sounds, I think you might have a stye. You could have clogged eyelid glands, applying too much eye makeup, or increased stress. The way to get rid of a stye is to compress a warm, wet washcloth against the affected area for 10 minutes 4 times a day. The next step is to massage the affected area, yes massage it. It speeds up the healing process. And last you have three options: antibiotic cream, eye drops, or pills.
