Diarrhea and vomiting...when and what should I drink?!

Question: Diarrhea and vomiting...when and what should I drink?
I know it's disgusting, but I've thrown up five times. Yesterday, it was diarrhea and vomiting over and over again. This morning, I tried to drink some ginger ale, but I just threw it right back up. I know that I have to hydrate, but I can't keep anything down. What should I do?

Answers:

Drink plenty of water - the toxins will eventually flush away with your diarrhea/urine.

Try a warm glass lemon juice with a teaspoon of honey and a pinch of salt. That'll help your rehydrate and add back your lost salts too.
Chew some raw ginger is you can, else crush some ginger to the lemon juice. That will definitely relieve the diarrhea.

Any juice is bad because its acidic. Drink ginger ale, peppermint tea and eat lightly salted crackers. When you're feeling a bit better drink a Gatorade to replenish your electrolytes which are lost from vomiting & diarrhea.

EDIT: you say you keep throwing up liquids, the best thing you can do is try to settle your stomach with antacid like ginger ale or medicine. Although you are throwing up the liquids, some of them are being digested before that happens. So its just a matter of "rinse and repeat.." lol bit of a nasty joke there.

Eat dry foods only; dry bread, and toast especially. Drink water regularly, anything else could make you throw up again. When the vomiting is less, try some green tea without milk, and maybe with some honey. Apple juice is okay to drink, but I don't reccomend drinking too much.

Clear liquids...the best thing to drink is water. Take SMALL sips. I know you are probably really thirsty but it helps to take small sips. If you drink anything fizzy, pour it in a glass and mix 1TBS of hot water in and stir with a spoon. It helps get some of the fizz out and is easier on your stomach. If you drink apple juice mix it with water. Popsicles also work too.
As for food... Bland stuff work your way up from plain toast and crackers to plain rice, noodles, mashed potatoes...stuff like that.
Hope you feel better soon!
