Tylenol is never effective; don't ever use it.
Try gel capsules of Aleve; it's a different kind of pain reliever (naproxen) and works really well. You can take 3 for the first dose, & 2 more when the first dose wears off.

This past summer, I got infected with some rare C strain of strep, and did not get out of bed for 2 weeks. When I swallowed, it felt like someone was scratching hot sandpaper against my throat. Before I got Rx Vicodin, frequent doses of Aleve helped A LOT.

This system worked miracles for that, & it will for you too:
Aleve capsules, Dayquil&Nyquil pills (not the liquid...ew!), and sucking on honey herb Ricola's in between.
good luck and feel better!

I've found pure honey helps me. It's tasty and you can eat as much of it as you want to keep the pain away! Also, try hot teas, particularly herbal. Don't drink anything with caffeine. Keep drinking as much water and juice as you can; it will replenish lost fluids and prevent your throat from drying out. I also suggest cough/throat drops. Cepracol brand sore throat and mouth drops, lemon lime or cherry flavor, are really effective, with ricola lemon honey drops in between. Hope you feel better!

i'm just getting over a cold myself the thing that helped me was the honey coough drops and drinking tea with honey and fresh lemon, and gargling with listerine. the best thing that i just found out about was orange juice and canadian dry ginger ale.

Soothers are the best for sore throats!

Make sure u drink allot of water to clean out your system and get plently of sleep, 10-12 hours. The more u sleep the more your body heals itself!

Gargle with warm salt water or drink water with lemon and honey.

Menthol throat lozenges soothe a sore throat.

I'd recommend Warm Tea with Ginger =]

gargle some salt water
