if my anemia gets worse, would I need to have a blood transfusion?!
Question: If my anemia gets worse, would I need to have a blood transfusion?
I was diagnosed with anemia in december, my iron is very low accourding to the doctor (its 11)
Im a 13 year old girl and I do get periods (heavy) and I know that can cause it, but I had anemia symptoms before my period.
Im always tired, I loose my breath easily, Im pale, etc.
Im on iron pills, and Im going to get blood work soon.
Do you think if my iron drops down more, I could get a blood transfusion?
and if so, how long does it take, and how long are you in the hospital for after?

I have suffered with very bad anemia for years and have had three blood transfusions. if it is severe anough they will give you one. you can usualy go home within a few hours of the blood transfusion being completed :)
