Question: Can cosmetic procedures be done through the NHS if it is affecting your mental health!?
I'm curious to know if the NHS recognise the line between pure vanity and when it really starts affecting your mental health!.

Yes they do and you can!. However before these sorts of procedures are OK'd by the NHS a formal psychological assessment is made and on a percentage basis the majority are refused as inappropriate!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
Technically, yes!. But it's at the discretion of your PCT (Primary Care Trust)!. Given the squeeze on NHS resources at the moment, it would really have to be affecting your mental health in a major way before the PCT would even consider funding it!. And that would require certification and evidence from mental health practitioners and others!.
Reconstructive procedures have a greater chance of being funded that purely 'cosmetic' ones, such as 'My big nose is really affecting my mental health'
In short, it's possible, but unlikely unless the case was very clear cut!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Yes in extreme cases cosmetic surgery is available on the NHS!. but you will have to convince your GP!. first before you are sent to a consultant plastic surgeon!. and be prepared to join a lengthy waiting list as your case may not be considered urgentWww@Answer-Health@Com
If it affects your mental health you should see a counsellor, psychologist or psychiatric doctor!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
