Why do people get goosebumps when they're cold?!
Question: Why do people get goosebumps when they're cold!?
I've been wondering, because I get them a lot in air-conditioned classrooms!. Is there a scientific explanation, or maybe it's an adaptation!?Www@Answer-Health@Com
Answers:
Because back when humans were covered in hair(fur), the hair would be triggered to stand on end by the stimulus(the cold, or fear) due to the contraction of the muscles at the base of the hairs!.
The fluffing of hair or fur created a barrier between the skin and the cold environment!. Within the hair area pockets, warm air is trapped, which keeps the animal/human warm!.
It's basically an evolutionary leftover, because we don't have thick/long enough hair to make a difference in temperature!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

because its your bodys natural reaction to try and keep its self warm the hair roots begin to twist and tighten so that all the surrounding pores are shut not leting any heat escapealso bringing the blood closer to the surface of the skin keeping the skin from freezing!. it is most likely an adaptation seeing as humans dont really have any fur!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
first of all you need to understand that we used to have fur!. animals with fur have tiny muscle-like areas at the base of every hair follicle!. these are used to straighten the hairs to seem larger to a threat, or to create more space between the hairs!. this space then can be used as insulation, like the pockets of air in the spaces of a sweater's stitches!. thats is why the hairs on our arms, though they cannot serve as enough space to provide heat and are thus vestigial, raise up when we are cold!. the bumps you see are tiny flexing muscle-like cells in each follicle!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
goose bumps well this dates back 3million years when we were not fully human we were coverd in thick course hair!.
when we felt cold the body would raise hairs on the body
as to trap air to create an air pocket between the body
as to trap in heat! Hope this helps!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Actually goosebumps is your bodys way of warming itself down when your cold!. your goosebumps go away when your body temperature is just below 90 degrees!. its just a way to warm you down ! thats it!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
