Children respond to caffeine and all other stimulants differently than adults do!. They actually are calmed by stimulants!.
Ritalin, for example, one of the drugs used for "hyperactive" kids since the 50s or 60s, is a stimulant, and it's used in children to help manage this condition because of the way they respond to it!.

Caffeine is a stimulant, in fact you will not only find it in coffee but in cold medication as an additive to give one a "pick me up"!.
It can also make a person irritable, anxious and nervous if taken in excess!.
A little coffee does no harm, however, and may be good for you - but only in moderation!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
