Thinking about counseling...?!

Question: I'm thinking about going to counseling, I'm depressed, have anxiety, and think I might be schizophrenic. Do I ask to see a counselor, a psychologist, or what when I call to set up an appointment? I'm asking because some counselors only have 2 years of schooling and no medical degree, and I want to make sure I'm getting therapy with the right type of person.

Also what do I say when I call them? I want to set up an appointment with ___?

Thanks for your help.

First of all GOOD FOR YOU that your stepping up and be couragous and getting the help you need :)

What you should do is research different couseling offices in your area and they should have a blog on what councelors they have a their backrounds.
Then, call the office of the one you think has the best backround and say "hi my name is _____ and im calling to see if i could set up a one on one counseling session with _______. " They will be able to tell you what to do from there.

Goodluck!!

Have you thought about thinking about something else other than depression and anxiety? Our thoughts are very powerful. If we continue to look for depression in our thoughts, we are going to find it. If we continue to be anxious because we know we are anxious -- in other words, being anxious out of habit -- then we will continue to attract more anxiety. Let me know what you think?

I see a therapist. It has been mostly a good experience for me. You might first want to talk to your regular doctor, he/she might know someone you can talk to.
