The best way to stop leg cramps is to take Horse Chestnut pills. It's an herb. I swear it works. My husband had back surgery and has nerve damage and used to get really bad leg cramps. I started him on Horse Chestnut and he hasn't had them since. They stopped about a week or so after he started taking the pills. You can get them in any health food store or on line. I sent you a link for a little more info.

what you need is more magnesium... its the lack of nutrients thats causing you to cramp. Eat more fruit!!

good luck :D

I take magnesium 450-500 mg. a day to start. Make sure you also drink plenty during the day. Cramps come on because the muscles are constricting usually from lack of water. If they still get you up at night, try rubbing "achy foot and muscle cream" on them (from avon). Ben-gay or any otther will do too. If that does't work, try standing with the hot shower on your legs until the cramps subside. If this doesn't work, you may need to see your doctor. I am on Reuip or Mirapex. One of those should work if you have Restless Leg Syndrome. Also the doctor can get you a special cream made up for you specifically that you rub on certain spots. I hope some of these remedies work for you. Just be sure to see the doctor if none of the other remedies work.

Muscle cramps can be caused by having a low potassium level. A simple blood test will diagnose it. Your doctor can prescribe potassium, but you'll have to have regular follow ups because too high a potassium level can cause heart problems. You can try eating more bananas and potatoes (baked) because they are high in potassium and that might help if your level isn't too low. If it doesn't help see your doctor.
