I think I might have a small ear infection or something, how do I take care of i!

Question: I can feel something in my ear blocking my hearing a tad bit, but I cant get anything out of it. Everytime I push on it, it kinda pops a little bit and when I hiccup it pops too and hurts. Im afraid I might bust my ear drum, and going to the doctor is pretty much ignorant if you dont have insurance so how do I take care of it myself at home? I had it before and healed it with some medicine my mom had from an infected toe but i ran out. What do i do? Thanks a lot

If it is actually infected, the ONLY way to take care of the infrection is with an antibiotic.
If it just a wax buildup... A very easy and effective way to dissolve earwax (even a painful buildup) is to pour just a little but (try a medicine dropper) of hydrogen peroxide in your ear. Do it with your head tilted nearly flat, and let it sit in the ear for about 10 seconds. Then let it drain. It is best to dry the ear out with either a drop or two of alcohol, or with some toilet paper. It is best to do this sitting down if possible because sometimes liquid against your eardum can make you dizzy.
So, I would try the peroxide. If it doesn't work.. unfortunately you're going to have to go to the doctor to get an antibiotic... because if you don't take care of an infection, it will likely rupture your eardrum (not fun). Good Luck!

Common ear infection symptoms in infants can include unusual irritability, difficulty sleeping, tugging or pulling at one or both ears, fever, fluid draining from the ear, and loss of balance. When an adult develops an ear infection, symptoms may include fever, earache, ear pain, hearing loss, feeling of blockage in the ear, and dizziness.

Antibotics are generally given for small ear infections:
Many antibiotics are approved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to fight otitis media (ear infections), although most doctors rely on a few favorites. Most antibiotics for ear infections fall under four families:

* Penicillins
* Sulfonamides
* Cephalosporins
* Erythromycins.

Sometimes a doctor may prescribe a combination of these antibiotics.
Penicillin Antibiotics for Ear Infections
There are a number of antibiotics from this class of antibiotics that can be used for ear infection treatment. Examples include:

* Amoxicillin
* Augmentin?.

Amoxicillin
Amoxicillin is a generic name for the most common antibiotic used to treat ear infections. This is a synthetic form of penicillin. Physicians like it because it causes less diarrhea than some other antibiotics. It's absorbed well, and it's only taken three times a day. It's also inexpensive. Side effects may include mild diarrhea and rashes. If the rash itches, the child might be allergic to the drug.

Augmentin
Augmentin is an amoxicillin drug with extra ingredients to inhibit bacterial resistance. This drug may clear up infections when other drugs have failed.

I am being 100% serious... this is gross but my 101 year old great-grandmother swears that to cure an ear infection right away you should put a teaspoon of urine in your ear. I know it sounds gross, but I always remember her telling me this as I was growing up. I don't know if it works....now that gives me something to do...I am going to look around on the internet and see if I can find anything about it.

go to the doctor

you need to see a doctor for antiobitics as that is the only way to clear it up.

if there is itching it will be almost a fungal infection
( otomycosis ). it will require your otologist to clean your ear from it and give you your proper medication.if you feel pressure inside your ear it will be almost chronic middle ear inflammation( chronic otitis media ) which requires immediate intervention of your otologist.
otherwise it will be mild external ear inflammation( otitis externa ) which could be treated easily using locacorten vioform ear drops 2-3 drops twice daily and I hope during 5 days healing will be complete.
