Commercial for "Children's Benadryl" was just on....?!

Question: and my question is.......they took all the kids' "cold medicines" off the market because of children ODing on them, etc. (my kids grew up just fine having them but whatever) -- what is the difference to have allergy meds available but not cold meds? Just curious -- I have grandbabies now....mine are grown so it's not an issue for me personally -- just a curiousity. I know people can OD on benadryl also.

I think you are speaking of the pulling of all pseudophed off the counters. This was done to stop people from buying large amounts of them in order to make (cook) meth.
More recently, small children's cold medications were scrutinized not because they were ODing on them, but because many babies were dying from parents giving the medication too often and too much. They believed it was safe, therefore could give it to them weather they needed it or not.
I have also seen children come in to the hospital, that have OD'd on pain medication.....the parents were told to give it every four hours if need for pain. These parents will hear their child moan in their sleep and think they were in pain. They did not take into consideration that, if the child is sleeping...he must not be hurting very badly.
Hope this answers some of your questions.
