Can antibiotics possibly also help asthma? Can being sick affect ur mental state!

Question: I read that certain antibiotics such as azithromycin can help with late-onset asthma. I've been taking antibiotics, and my chest feels better. But I wasn't sick, I was just taking it as a precaution just in case, I had a fever. And a few days later, my asthma let up!

Also, when you're sick, even if you don't know it, can that affect your mental state to a significant degree?

My mood before I started feeling better and taking antibiotics was moody, aggressive, confused, couldn't think straight, just....weird and strange. And I felt that way for a long time, and accepted it as normal because I haven't felt different for a while.

Now suddenly, I feel better, different, especially after antibiotic treatments. Several different kinds.

And my asthma got better.

Is it possible that i was sick ALLLLL along with things I never even knew about? They most likely were bacterial in nature, right?

Also, if being sick can affect ur mind, will getting better reverse that?

Antibiotics shouldn't help with asthma. Asthma is an inflammatory response. Antibiotics fight bacteria.

When you're sick, it can affect your mental state. You don't sleep enough, and the lack of rest can affect your mood. In addition, if you're not getting enough air, you can be left very cranky and irritable. It's hard to think straight. Usually getting better changes that, but sometimes if you're sick for a while you can still suffer from fatigue and need rest.

You need to consider what happens when you don't take antibiotics exactly as prescribed by a doctor. First of all, if you aren't prescribed the antibiotic, you can die from an allergic reaction. You also might not need that antibiotic.

Second, if you don't finish all your medication, you could (and frequently do) kill off most of the bacteria but not the bacteria that is mildly resistant. Then when you quit, that antibiotic is no longer effective against that bacteria. This is where we get serious bacterial infections, because we are no longer capable of fighting the infection with the tools we have. Consider the flesh eating bacteria, a form of staph infection that has been known to kill people. The reason it is so deadly is because it's so difficult to treat.

Too many people "save up" medicine from an infection for a later illness. It might not be the right treatment for the illness. I don't advise it.
