you can, but you have to really do some soul-searching. i've heard that "what color is your parachute" is a very good book, and it's a classic on finding a job based on your passion. i have been really helped by "the artist's way" by julia cameron- it's not really only for artists, but anybody who wants to live a full life and explore their passions. if you have an urge to write, paint, play music, or anything like that then you should definitely read it. joseph campbell has some interesting things to say about this, "follow your bliss", etc. personally i think a very good job to be passionate about is one that doesn't require sitting in an office all day. i'm 30, and i do art. the most satisfying day job i've had is teaching kids art. it is a natural anti-depressant, and it restores my faith in the power of making art when i see how fun it is for them. jobs helping people are really easy to get passionate about. i would look for something to do that is meaningful in a larger sense, since it sounds to me like you're the kind of person who would rather have a fulfilling job than a super high paying one (although who wouldn't like that, too!) just think what the issues are that you really think about and care a lot, and imagine what kind of job would relate to those thoughts and issues. if you can imagine this job, you can make it happen. it's all just a matter of really figuring out what you care about the most in this world. good luck! p.s. it's never too late to find meaning in what you're doing, so don't beat yourself up about being 35. 35 is young.

Get in your car, pop in U2's The Joshua Tree, and BLAST "I Still Havent Found What I'm Looking For"

you'll find what you're looking for, just dig deeper

That's all poppycock. Some people just love a certain activity, some people are good at everything, and then there is people like me who have no talent, and no drive to do anything. Anyone can do anything with the proper training, and believe it or not, most people are not doing what they REALLY wish they were doing. I want to be an archeologist but, with my son and my age, I don't see that happening.
