Do satellite dishes emit any radiation?!
Question: I've got a large satellite dish on my garage, which is over 6 metres from my house. Firstly, do satellite dishes emit radiation? I thought they just gather beams from satellites orbiting the earth. If they do emit radiation, is it strong enough to harm our health? Bearing in mind that the garage is detached from our house, at over 6 metres...

being in satellite communications in the military I can tell you that a receiving ONLY antenna(satellite dish) cannot emit radiation. It will not harm you.
However if the satellite antenna transmits signals and receives them , the transmitting part of the signal does contain radiated RF energy and can harm you. The signal being emited would also need to be of substansial power as well. Most transmited signals are now less than a watt, and cannot hurt you if exposed for short periods of time. Long time exposure could possible hurt living things.
So unless the satellite dish is sending out signals, then you have a receive only dish and it cannot harm you.
