This sounds like a panic attack. I had one of these a couple of years ago. It's caused by anxiety because you get excited or scared and it feels like you can't get enough air so you keep taking short unsatisfying breaths.

Just calm down, relax, know that you're okay. It helps to take deep breaths in a brown paper bag... it helps me to take sips of water. Just CALM DOWN, you're fine. I know what this is like, but you're okay just relax and stop thinking about it, I know it's scary.

are you asthmatic? If you feel that you can't seriously catch your breath, you may need to see a Dr. immediately. (try re-breathing into a paper bag, esp. if you have shallow breaths you are not breathing off enough Co2 and breathing in enough O2)

I think i know what it could be, its happened to me acouple times... Does it happen after running for a long period of time?

anxiety attack maybe.just try and relax.tell your body to relax.

It might just be a small form of a panic attack. Sometimes when people concentrate really hard on something that should come easy, they can obsess about it. Try to distract yourself and just relax.
One time in a class my teacher was teaching about obsessive compulsive disorders. She made us sit and think about eating a piece of candy and try to describe how to swallow. When we ate the candy, we concentrated on swallowing and i'll tell you it was really hard :) Earlier it hadn't taken any thought at all but when you think about it, it gets harder.

It's a psychological thing. It used to happen to me all the time. What you need to do is take a deep breath, hold it as long as you can, and slowly let it out. Do this untill you feel like maybe you are getting enough oxygen. Don't worry about it. Like i said, that stuff used to happen to me all the time. YOu are perfectly fine. : )

calm down. and visit the mental health fascility tommorrow....you need some thing to sooth you, to calm your sullied loins, to sooth tour battered brow.....ya need a tonic for relief..a salve, a balm that heals.....get healed...and use that healing balm./

Wow..that sounds serrious!! Try explaing to your mom that it's really a big problem and that you really need to get some help somehow...and maybe try seeing another doctor and explaining this to him and saying that you look and seem fine to most people but that you know there is something wrong!! Hope this helps!!!
