Getting over a bad habit?!


Question: i need advice on how to get over my biting nails habit. i've done it since i was little but i really want to stop. i've tried just stopping and it works for about a week the starts again. any suggestions?

hey i had the same problem and i stopped.
i have moments where i try to chew them but i dont
what i did was i polished my nails constantly so when u did bite them i was eating nail polish which was gross to me and it got me to quick. but now i chew alot of gum and sometimes the caps to my pens if i dont have gum

just find something to substatute u chewing ur nails and it should help alot gum worked the best for me now i developed a bad habbit in popping my gum it makes my teachers sooo bad lol

All I can say is good luck! I'm 31 and still bite mine.

I have that habit too. its horrible. what works for me is get a beautiful manicure or paint your nails and they'll be so pretty you wont want to bite them. hope i helped! :)

Start smoking. JUST KIDDING!!! There is a nail polish you can buy that is clear but it tastes horrible, it is supposed to keep you from biting your nails. My mother used to put it on my sister's nails when she was little.

me 2 ....but what you can do is just forget about them and get busy .....(helpful hint) don't watch extremely long movies it doesn't help at all (or one's that put you on the edge)

It takes 21 days to quit a bad habit and make a new one! Hot sauce! Dip your fingers in some every morning for 21 days! Everytime you go to bite your nails, it will burn your mouth causing you to not want to bite them! after 21 days you will not feel like biting them! If biting proceeds after 21 days continue puting hot sauce on fingers, or try a different treatment!

I have heard that putting a rubber band on your wrist and snapping it hard when you are tempted to bite tends to help you stop. Soon the pain becomes high and your body tells you not bite because you are feeling the rubber band so hard.
