What have done to try and cure or treat homosexuality throughout history?!
Question: In particular, what methods or medicines have people used? I'm not asking because I want to impose them, or anything like that, but because I am researching an article.
I'd be particularly grateful if you could provide me with sources (web or books), just for a spot of further reading.

It is only really in the last century that homosexuality has been frowned upon. Prior to Queen Victoria it existed but the vast majority of the public ignored it.
In the 50s they used electric shock treatment and aversion therapy to 'cure' homosexuality. Naturally it did not work. I'm not sure if drugs were ever produced for this purpose, but anti-depressants could have been as it was seen as a mental illness
EDIT: Whoever gave me the thumbs down has completely misread the question! The guy is asking about 'cures and treatments' for homosexuality, and believe it or not IT USED TO BE SEEN AS AN ILLNESS!!!

you speak of homosexuality as an illness or disses. to be homosexual is as normal to a homosexual person as it is for me to be straight. homosexuality as been around since for ever its just more spoke about now because of the times we live in, it was illegal for many years, but since the age of consent was lowered its become more out in the open and people don't have to hide their sexual preference any more ,,, and so it should be

Some of us are born left handed while others are right handed. It makes no more sense to try and change a left hander to a right hander than it does to try 'cure' someone of being gay as though it were a disease. It is not - it is a state of grace for some and for the rest of us it is a tolerated human condition.
Think of it like this. 300 gay Spartan soldiers laid down their lives so that Greece and thus the Western World could carry on holding silly arguments about whether the Moon is made of cheese or not, or whether perhaps it is just hollow.

Notice the sarcasm above, if being homosexual was normal why can't you physically create a baby from same sex relationships. If it was intended we should go for the same sex then we would be made to do so, but we arn't which must mean it's in the mind of the individual making it a mental disease. It's like saying how come people are murderers? It's obvious, theres something different in their mind having an ambition to kill and they can go through treatment to try and cure it.
Thats my opinion on the matter and quite frankly I don't care much about the subject I'm just against it if it ever comes up in conversation.
I believe it is a genetic peculiarity and is something you are born with and have to endure for the rest of your life. It is incurable.

being irish they hated gay people in ireland in the olden days so they decedied it was best that gay people got eletro shock therby.
Its a thing that i am totally against and i think you should be happy with who ever you are with.
Now in todays more modern ireland we are acceptable of gay people. in fact some of my friends are gay and they always give me good tips when i am buying clothes or doing my hair.
