My gums are receding! help!?!
Question: My gums are receding! help!?
Also, when I had my braces on, my teeth would always move a little when I bit down. Is that natural?!
Answers:
Receeding gums - keep them clean by gentle and thorough brushing with a soft toothbrush or they will keep receeding. If they are inflammed due to poor cleaning then you will get in an inflammation (gingivitis) and they will split more.
You should lose your tooth/teeth but will have to live with the recession or have gum grafts when you are an adult.
Teeth are held in by ligaments which mean they move a little when pressure is placed on them. When you have orthodontic treatment they are more loose as they have been moved. They will tighten up more but in the mean time don't try to wriggle them too much or they will struggle to tighten up.
OMG! I have braces now (get them off soon) and when i bite down, they move a little too! im not so crazy now.
You should get a retainer of some sort when you get your braces off, so i've heard and that should keep your teeth in place and not move. I think that they will move if you don't wear it and that could cause the receding of your gum. Because if you haven't been wearing the retainer then your teeth will move back into your Original place. i hope i make sense.
still have braces on, for another few months. im also 16 in May :)
